The Queen’s Baton Relay baton and batonbearers official uniform were unveiled this evening, at an exciting event held on the banks of the River Clyde. As the designers of the official uniform, everyone at Trespass has been anxiously awaiting the unveiling – and now we’re so excited to be able to share the design with you.
The batonbearers uniform comprises of a t-shirt and trousers combo, which will be worn by thousands of people as the baton travels across the 71 nations of the Commonwealth. The t-shirt features the Queen’s Baton Relay logo, as well as modern, contrasting yellow and blue stripes. The stripes have been chosen to represent the baton’s journey across the world. The trousers are a beautiful ‘heritage’ blue, which invokes thoughts of Scottish tradition and the Saltire flag.
Here at Trespass, we are passionate about the outdoors. We design some of the best clothing and equipment that can withstand a multiple of elements – something which is incredibly important here in Scotland! The batonbearers’ t-shirt has been made from fabric which holds quick dry and anti-bacterial properties, to ensure that the Relay Baton is shown off in style and comfort. Further to this the fabric is also breathable and has wicking properties, which are very important for active people. The baton relay will begin on the 9th of October, with a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace. To mark the start of the relay The Queen will place a message inside the baton, which will then be opened and read at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. As the batonbearers jog past in their Trespass relay uniforms, millions of people around the world will marvel at the unique craftsmanship of the baton. The relay takes place for 288 days, with the final leg seeing the baton travel across Scotland.
We cannot wait for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games to begin. We are very proud of our Queen’s Baton Relay uniform and we hope that the batonbearers enjoy wearing it. Don’t forget that we are also supplying the official uniforms for the thousands of Commonwealth Games volunteers, so keep an eye out for them! We hope you are as excited as we are!
