WHAT IS A HYDRATION BACKPACK

Hydration backpacks - also known as water backpacks or hydration compatible backpacks - are simple to use and can be paired with a water bladder or hydration pack. These are water pouches that work using an attached tube and mouthpiece, expertly designed to make drinking on the go more convenient. Simply store the pouch in the rear pocket of your hydration backpack, and feed the hose through the holes on the backpack to the hydration access point.

The best hydration packs feature adjustable sternum and waist straps, designed to provide added support and stability whether you're running, hiking or cycling. Many cycling hydration packs come with reflective detailing, a feature you may want to consider for heightened visibility.

HOW TO USE A HYDRATION BLADDER

Fill a hydration pack water bladder by unscrewing the cap and using a tap. Always leave a little space at the top of the water bladder to save the hydration pack from being too full, preventing it from bursting.
Install the water bladder in the hydration pack pocket of your water bladder backpack. Feed the tube through the access point hole – usually found at the back of the pack, though this will be labelled – and out to the rear of the backpack.

To use a hydration pack bite valve, follow the above steps before putting your bag on as you usually would with the straps over your shoulders and the pack behind you.
Find the water bladder tube and bring it around the side of your face and to your mouth. Now, bite down on the mouthpiece while sucking – and there you have it: how to use a hydration pack.
If you’re wondering how to clean a hydration pack, firstly unscrew the cap and empty the contents. Then rinse with warm water and washing up liquid. Re-fill and empty the contents of the water bladder several times over to ensure that the soap and suds have been washed away.
